Love the Ugly Truth About Your Business

|

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it. – Matthew 13:45-46 ESV

I’m making the case that the pearl is the truth.

Not only because, according to the Bible, Jesus is the way, truth, and the life; and that all his words and commandments are truth.

But because the truth costs something.

It costs our delusions that we hang onto.

It costs us the ability to say that our bad situation is someone else’s fault.

Our ability to say yes to every lie that exists.

It forces us to look at who we are and see a lot of things we don’t like. Our flaws, our debts, our weaknesses, and the mistakes we keep making again and again.

But the truth that you have a problem is the first step towards solving the problem.

Market research gives you the truth about your customers and what they want.

Accurate books give you the truth about the financial state of your business and the next decisions you should make to achieve your business goals.

Customer feedback gives you the truth about how good a job you’re doing meeting people’s needs.

Not buying the truth is the most expensive option.

As costly as the truth is, once you’ve bought it, there’s no better feeling than knowing exactly where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there.

I’m not asking you to buy the truth once. I’m asking you to love the truth. Love the truth, and you’ll never leave it behind.
